“Tell Me, Whats a Dolla Really Worth?”

The title to the artwork above but also an interesting question that grows relevant by the day. This is what I wanna uplift today. And hightlight that this is a real story as well as a political one. I found that this story needed a secondary political stance. The first one is reflected in the video and the second is my statement/reflection below.
While this department showcases their success in a long fought case to catch violent drug activity historically known in the local neighborhood. Where this video falls short is any acknowledgment of poor gun regulation and a failing system that clearly shows a continuance to not show up for the families of these convicted individuals. Standing as a great examples of how the United States Government uses bias to justify when & how they use their executive power. This is also a great example of how the laws that are meant to protect us continue to reveal the lack of support it has for its own citizens. Citizens who were providers of families but are now simplified to convicts. Pple who were once anchors of their community and loved Mothers, Fathers, Aunties, and Uncles.
S/O to the Artist, Diamond Young for using her gift to prioritize a more intimate and relatable side to an overlooked community. A community with a particular perspective that continues to get chastised, misunderstood, and most importantly mistreated rather than corrected.
